FORD UNVEILS ALL-NEW EVEREST

The next generation Ford Everest has been revealed globally. The new large SUV blends off-road capability with exceptional comfort and customer-focused technology in a rugged yet refined SUV package.

Three grades of the next-gen Everest have been presented badged Sport, Titanium+ and Platinum catering for a variety of customer needs.

Rugged, modern design

A wider track and longer wheelbase allowed designers to create a more progressive, muscular appearance. The latest Ford global DNA is reflected in the C-clamp headlamps and prominent upper grille bar.

Viewed from the side, a strong shoulder line runs from front to back, while the arches swell over the wheels, enhancing the strong and modern look.

Inside story

Inside, premium levels of craftsmanship have created a quiet and refined sanctuary for up to seven occupants, along with class leading safety and technology.

Designers put a lot of thought into the function and feel of the interior, taking inspiration from modern homes and incorporating plush materials and premium finishes.

The interior sense of spaciousness is amplified by a full-width coast-to-coast instrument panel and centre console with dual cup holder recesses, plus dash mounted pop out cup holders for the front seat occupants. Certain models are equipped with integrated wireless charging, svelte new leather trimmed e-shifter and an electric parking brake, heated and ventilated 10-way power adjustable memory function seats upfront.

Access to the third-row seats is much easier thanks to second-row seats that slide further forward than before.

In addition to a more refined and comfortable interior, Ford focused on incorporating the latest connectivity and technology features into the next-generation Everest. Depending on the trim level, it is fitted with either an 8 or 12.4-inch digital instrument panel that replaces the traditional analogue clusters. In addition the centre console houses a large high-resolution portrait 10.1 0r 12-inch touchscreen.

These touchscreens allow controlling of Ford’s latest SYNC4A system, which includes voice-activated communications, entertainment and information systems. An embedded factory-fitted modem allows customers to connect to the Everest via a linked FordPass App. That offers functionality such as remote start, vehicle status check and remote lock and unlock via your mobile device. The central screen is also linked with a 360-degree camera with split view display.

Under the bonnet

The new Ford Everest will be fitted with Ford’s proven 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 engine, one of three turbo diesel engine options available. In addition the range will include models fitted with Ford’s proven single-turbo and bi-turbo 2.0 inline four-cylinder diesels and a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. Gearbox options include either a six-speed automatic of Ford’s efficient 10-speed Select Shift automatic.

Revised underpinnings

A 50mm increase in the Everest’s track helps deliver a more controlled ride on–road, while tweaks to damper settings allowed the team to inject more fun and control into the Everest’s ride both on and off-road.

The Everest will be available with a choice of two four-wheel drive systems, underbody protection and off-road selectable drive modes plus a rear locking differential.

The two 4WD systems include a two-speed electronic shift on-the-fly transfer case, also known as a part-time 4WD system and an advanced, permanent four-wheel drive system that uses an electronically controlled on-demand two-speed electromechanical transfer case with selectable drive modes. The Everest will also be available in two-wheel drive in certain markets.

A dedicated off-road screen displays vehicle information and a front camera view of the terrain view ahead. With a single button press, the driver can view their driveline and diff-lock indicators, steering angle and guides, vehicle roll and pitch angles. The new Ford Everest has a wading ability of 800mm and a towing capacity of 3500kg.

Advanced driver assist technologies

The new Everest is fitted with a wide variety of new and enhanced driver assist technologies and safety features. For example a new far-side airbag positioned between the driver and front passenger provides additional protection in the event of a side impact and along with dual knee airbags brings the number of airbags up to nine.

Matrix LED head lamps offer greater visibility thanks to a raft of clever features including auto dynamic levelling and speed dependant lighting that adjusts intensity as speed increases.

In addition adaptive cruise control, a lane keeping system, evasive steer assist, reverse brake assist, blind spot information system, pre-collision assist make driving the new Everest easier and most importantly safer.
