FORD LAUNCHES SPECIAL EDITION ECOSPORT ACTIVE

Ford has expanded their popular EcoSport range with the addition of an EcoSport Active model.

What makes it different?

The EcoSport Active is based on the popular mid-range EcoSport Trend 1.0 EcoBoost Automatic but adds a number of distinctive styling and more rugged elements to the package.

Enhancements include a black front grille, headlamp surround and fog lamp bezels as well as sporty front and rear skirts. Black wheel arch mouldings and 17-inch Active design black alloy wheels ensure a more muscular stance.

Dark finishes extend to black mirror caps and roof rails, as well as dark-tinted privacy glass for the rear windows. A black painted roof provides a good contrast to the four available paint colours, which include Frozen White, Luxe Yellow, Solar Silver and Magnetic dark grey.

Inside story

The interior features a variety of special touches too. Cloth seats, used on the standard Trend models, are replaced by leather seats throughout.

A high level of specification includes a leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel with cruise control, electric windows all-round, air-conditioning and an eight-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The FordPass Connect system, includes an embedded modem, that allows owners to connect with their car and control a number of vehicle functions via the FordPass app.

Under the bonnet

The EcoSport Active is powered by Ford’s tried and tested 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine that offers a good combination of performance and fuel efficiency. The three-cylinder boasts 92kW and 170Nm and is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Top notch safety

Safety equipment is on par with that of the Trend derivative and includes seven airbags as well as ABS brakes, Electronic Stability Control, Emergency Brake Assist and Hill Launch Assist.

Pricing and availability

The EcoSport Active 1.0 EcoBoost Automatic is available from Ford dealers for R393 700. Pricing includes a four-year/120 000km warranty. Customers also have the option of purchasing service or maintenance plans for up to eight years or 135 000km.
